The Snake Is Back

I let the dogs out in the front yard in the early morning hours when the sun was barely coming up. I went inside to prepare their food as usual. Suddenly I heard lots of barking and I went out with a flashlight to see what was so interesting under the stairs. I didn't see anything so I herded them all inside except one who hung back. She had a little spot of blood under one eye. I carried her inside and tried to wipe it off but she yelped and cried. I fed the other dogs and looked at her again and the tell-tale swelling from a snake bite was there. I bet it was the same snake that bit my other dog too. People told me that rattlesnakes are territorial but there wasn't much I could do since I didn't know where he was hiding. I think he is living under the mobile home. Unfortunately, no snake hunters are going to go climb under the mobile home and get him. I searched for snake traps and all I found were large glue traps. It is not going to be easy to get rid of him.

For now I can't let the dogs in to the front yard so they have to stay in the mobile home and back dog run. I am going to try to block off any access to the front yard from under the mobile home skirting but I think I am just fooling myself. The snake can easily go around. This makes me want to move in to a house in town even more.

Snakes can get througha centimetre gap i think. Its the way they can lay their bones flat and on top of each other. I wouldnt be sleeping if i was you now. Could be worse though, I had a friend who lived somewhere exotic and she had snakes behind the books on the book shelf which pushed then all off on the floor.

Um, yeah, moving to town sounds like a good idea at this point.

Lizzie, I think I will buy a suit of armour off of ebay and wear it until the snake is found.

Anonymous, I feel like cashing in my 401k and buying a fixer upper at this point. Only problem with that plan is that I would probably buy a house infested with cockroaches and scorpians. Just my luck.
