Looking Around

Another day gone and I still have 8 dogs. I think I've hit a slump. It's only been 2 weeks since my last dog got adopted but it feels like longer. Maybe that's because I didn't run out and replace him with a new dog so my group feels like they've been here forever.

On the way to the adoption event I drove through the neighborhood where I am interested in buying a house. Yesterday I looked up the crime map for the area and this neighborhood had the least amount of crime compared to the other areas I was looking at and, surprisingly, no sex offenders. The houses are, um, a bit homely in my opinion. Slump block, low or flat roofs, one story. I could tell that some people took pride in maintaining their homes and others didn't care. I am eager to see inside the houses next week.

I managed to slip away today and buy some more vinyl tile. I picked a cheaper pattern and didn't even realise that the tiles were supposed to be installed in line instead of staggered. I had already started the staggered pattern so I had to continue.

It doesn't really matter. This old mobile home will probably end up in the junk yard soon anyway. Oh, and I think my roof patching job worked. It has only rained once but that leaky area was dry. Now I just need to do a better job of sealing around the air conditioners and the dog doors.

I am quite interested in your new idea. I can't believe the price of property, even in the recession £150k gets you a one bed flat around here (hence the kids stay home for ever and ever....). If you can rent it out for more than it costs you then its all good for the retirement funds. Enough of these and you can actually build on your lands.

Ah, so that's why your kids are still hanging around. I am thinking that with a $400-$500 mortgage I can still save $1,000 a month towards my building fund. Gee, if I had a roommate I could probably live for free!
