From Six To Twelve

The dogs woke me up at 4am. This is not unusual around 10pm or even midnight if they hear coyotes howling outside. But coyotes don't often howl at 4 in the morning. I listened and heard a tiny puppy cry. It kind of felt like Christmas morning as I walked to the bathroom and discovered momma dog with a white puppy with black spots. Hmm...didn't expect that color. I'm guessing that's what color daddy was.

I stayed up for a little while to make sure everything was ok and then went back to bed. When I got up at 6:30 there were 5 puppies. They all looked healthy so I went to work. I came home for lunch and there were 6 puppies! My dog population just doubled. Yesterday I had 6 dogs, now I have 12. At least momma dog will take care of her pups for a few weeks without my help. There is one black one, 2 white with spots, 2 black and brown and one black with a white stripe around his neck. 3 boys and 3 girls I think.

Nothing like a little puppy excitement to take my mind off my mortgage plan disappointment. So close and now I'll most likely need to use the money for flooring. Oh well. The puppies are cute!
