So Little Time

I finally get a weekend all to myself! Now I have to make the most of it instead of sleeping in, watching TV and taking a nap which is what I would like to do (and what I did a lot of before the dogs).

I have 3 things on my priority list:

1. Do laundry. I am going to collect every piece of laundry from dirty dog beds, to rags to blankets and drive them to a laundromat and wash them all! It will be such fun to have 4 or 5 loads all running at once. Then I will bring them back and dry them one at a time in my own dryer. I am willing to spend an hour at the laundromat in order to wash them but I don't want to spend another hour there to dry them when I have a dryer at home. I wish the laundromat wasn't 35 minutes away but I don't do this often (ok, I've never done it in Tucson) and there really isn't a good alternative. One neighbor did offer her washing machine but my dog laundry is too gross and at a laundromat I can get it all done at the same time.

2. Check the jacuzzi to see if there is any water in there. I hope there are at least 200 gallons in the jacuzzi. It is my emergency water supply and I am now down to emergency levels. I should also talk with the neighbor and ask if they could deliver some water for me. They offered to deliver some over the summer but I didn't need it back then. They also asked if I wanted to go in on a well with them and I didn't have the money. I am seriously considering taking them up on their offer if they can wait for me to save $10k after the mortgage is gone. That could be 9 months from now though. I don't know if they will wait that long.

3. Dig a post hole in the dog run to make a more secure fence for the momma dog and puppies. The puppies are growing fast and I need to keep them separate from my other dogs because momma dog is still very protective. Hopefully in 4 weeks the puppies will go to new homes and the momma dog will go to a new foster home. But I would like to have an area for more moms and pups in the future. When I was at the shelter yesterday there was a momma and 8 pups being checked in. Today they are on the rescue list. The longer they are there the more chance of them getting kennel cough and then they will be killed. If my puppy-nanny will keep helping me with laundry and puppy-sitting I can take in another mom and pups after this group moves on. So far it has been an interesting and fun experience.

So, that's what I would like to do tomorrow and Sunday. There are many more things that I would like to do, like list things on ebay but I don't think this is going to be the weekend for that. Oh, I almost forgot, my work's Christmas dinner is tomorrow on the opposite side of town. Probably an hour or more each way. Not looking forward to that drive even if I do get a free dinner!

Laundromat solution is best just to get you back on top of things.
I would be seriously considering the well in your position i think. Everything else is just hassle and if you are dog fostering, especially in great numbers, then laundry is only ever going to get more not less.
I don't suppose the dog adoption place has a list of friendly businesses that help out at discounted prices. Just wondering if you can find someone to help with the building and landscaping for the dog area but someone that cares about the dogs and does it at cost. Probably not but would be a good idea.

Lizzie, that is a good idea. When the time comes I will ask my rescue friends if they have friends or spouses in the fencing business. It just might work!
