Here A Dollar, There A Dollar

Since my mobile home remodel is sort of a recent decision and I don't have a single chunk of money set aside for it, I am scraping up money where ever I can. Today I made a list of available funds.

$30-My parents gave me this money for Christmas to go towards the purchase of a water pump. The pump will cost $150 or so.

$40-Money from online surveys. I don't remember how long I have been taking online surveys but I think it has been 10 months. This is the first time that I cashed in my reward credits.

$25-I turned my $20 Discover rewards in to a $25 Ace Hardware gift card. They are the closest hardware store and a great place for things I forgot to buy like plumbing fittings and screws.

$25-I just redeemed another $20 of Discover rewards today for another Ace Hardware gift card.

$5-I got a coupon for $5 off at Ace Hardware from their own rewards program.

$25-My sister and her family got me a Best Buy gift card. This will go towards my next computer that I will need soon. I can't believe my computer survived in to the new year.

$250-Today I got my Chase credit card statement for December. Most people are not excited about their credit card statement but I have been eagerly waiting to reach the $200 level in reward points. I finally did it and was able to take advantage of the $50 bonus. I believe I only get the bonus because I have the checking account too. I don't know if they still offer this for new people. I was worried that they would change the rules before I reached $200 but my rewards check is on it's way. Yea! Oh, this money might go towards a new netbook or it might go towards the mobile home remodel. It depends on when my computer decides to die.

$600-I do have this money budgeted for extras but there are other things that need money besides my project like my broken tooth needs to be fixed and my truck needs some work.

$486-This is the money that I had leftover from that weekend job last year. Not as much as I had hoped but a significant amount nonetheless.

Grand total $1,219.

I need to be very careful with that money. It has to stretch very far. I was tempted to buy a $230 hot water heater today but then I thought that I could probably get by with just some black pipe coiled on the roof this summer. And I wanted an eco-heater for $100 that only uses 400watts. That's great but my mobile home has windows on the south side and heats up very nicely with only the sun. At night I can use the space heater that I already own. I couldn't figure out how to get around buying a water pump (unless I put the water tank on the roof and use gravity) so I think I will make a water pump my primary purchase and then see what else I really need.

any chance of more work at the other job? assuming it is worth it, that is.

does the pump price include the tank?

I don't think I want another weekend job any time soon. That was crazy. No sleep or free time. The water pump is just a lttle RV water pump. No tank but I have a tank already, just have to move it this weekend. It's on my to-do list.

Netbooks beat any other computer if you use it mainly for browsing. I got my wife a little red Dell for Christmas. She just loves it: checking emails curled up on the sofa, free of wires...

I wish it arrived as easy as it leaves........

Lizzie, it sure does leave quickly! I bet I could spend it all on the dogs if I'm not careful!
