The Sorry State Of My Diet

Since I have been working an extra job I have no time to cook. Or I should say that I am not organised enough to cook. If this were to become my normal routine I would have to find a few minutes here and there to cook some chicken and boil some rice or pasta. It wouldn't be terribly hard just not as leisurely as it used to be. Right now I am living on pizza and leftovers. I thought this was going to be the last crazy weekend but I believe I will be working next weekend too. My next free weekend won't be until November 7th. That seems so far away.

In response to my diminished free time, my grocery bill has tripled. Ok, I can blame some of that on the dogs for their food, treats and flea prevention. The rest is convenience food and treats for myself. The last grocery trip included candy bars, donuts, cheetos and angel food cake. I am rewarding myself for working hard. Unfortunately, both of my jobs are sedentary desk jobs. I don't get any exercise. Plus, now that it is dark in the morning and dark when I get home, I don't go for walks. I've started playing fetch with the dogs down the hallway in order to give them exercise. It doesn't do much for me.

I am looking forward to having my weekends back so that I have some time to go for a walk while it is light outside and to cook my meals again. It is easy for me to take those simple things for granted when I have time available but now I miss them the most.

Somehow you have an old comment I made not the right one. Very weird.
I was saying are you sure its worth it with the extra costs. Also how about insisting that the dogs have to come to work with you (okay, maybe just one) at the weekend job. Plus I am posting a receipe which might be good for you on my blog in a minute.

I hope the part time job people appreciate everything you are doing to help them out. Nov 7 will be here before you know it.

That is strange Lizzie. Let's blame it on your laptop. I would love it if a dog could come to work with me but none of them are well-behaved enough. The weekend job is in a large open office. At my day job I have my own office and can shut the doors. Maybe I'll sneak another dog in when my boss goes out of town. :)

Over the Cubicle, they are very appreciative in words and $. The work is a nice change of pace too. At least this project has an end. My day job seems to change every day and go on forever. I feel like I'm always behind.

Hey Daizy,
I am in the same bucket, with a full time job & full-time college. I found the frozen "Natural Choice" meals to be a great time & money -saver: they are often on sale in WalMart or Stop & Shop, $2 each. There are several positive sides of buying those: first they are tasty, not bad at all nutrition-wise, cheap, time-saving and also you can actually plan exactly how much you will spend per week. Try'em out (avoid the Ginger Chicken that one is horrible ;)

I meant "Healthy Choice"...

fwisp, I'll have to take a look at those. I got burned out on Stouffers and Mary Calendar meals when they went on sale for $1.50 last year. I might be ready to try freezer meals again...maybe.
