Spoke Too Soon

After talking about how I thought I could make it to the end of the month without spending any more money and how my AC fan motor is working great, I got home from work today and guess what? The fan starts making a horrible high pitched noise and then stops working. I called the RV repairman and left a message. When he replaced it last month he said he would give me a "verbal" 90 day warranty on the used fan motor. I'm not sure what that meant. Maybe he won't charge me labor or the service call fee to put in a new motor. That would be nice but new motors cost around $200 so there goes my budget for September.

I checked the 10 day forecast. Low 90's for the rest of the week and then mid-90's again. It's so close to October and cooler weather. I could make it with only a box fan. But still I'd have to replace it before next May and the 'fan only' mode is so convenient. There's not much room in this RV and a box fan blocks a lot of it. Then, if I am paying $200 for a fan motor, maybe I should just spend the money to buy a new AC. It is old and a new AC unit would be a good selling point when I do decide to sell. Decisions, decisions.

Bummer. It is always something. Hopefully that verbal warranty will help some.

I wish it wasn't always something expensive! I can't believe it broke again. No AC makes everything so unpleasant.

Mid-90s in September? Believe me when I say I am not trying to pour salt on the wound...but posts like this make me so glad I left a place with obscene heat (Texas) years ago.

Hope you find a solution that works for you.

Executioner, I feel the same way when I go visit people in snow country in the winter. The heat usually doesn't affect my driving, unlike snow and ice. I suppose there is a nice middle climate somewhere. S. California was nice but too expensive.
