Weekend Wrap-Up

Another weekend has slipped by too quickly. I didn't go in to the mobile home to sort stuff. It was too hot. I took my laundry over to the house I was house-sitting, picked up the mail, watered the plants and watched some TV while my clothes dried. I don't think I miss much not having cable TV. It got boring fast and I don't even remember what I watched.

I had to make red beans and rice this weekend because I bought a green pepper and it was already a week old. It certainly doesn't do me any good to buy produce and then let it rot. I made a double batch of red beans and rice but it didn't make very much. That's good though because I don't want to be eating it for weeks.

My bean sprout did ok. They aren't great but I didn't put a weight on top of them like the instructions said. I see what they are talking about now. I have to give the sprouter back to my boss but it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to make my own out of recycled plastic cups. I'll have to try it.

I finally put my space heater in to my shed. It is supposed to be 100 degrees all week so I won't be needing heat for a while. My blanket throw was packed away too. The down comforter will be next. It is folded up next to my bed right now just in case a freak blizzard appears. I also sorted through 2 weeks of mail and filed it away. Still no vegetables from my little garden. There are a few blossoms though and I gave it some more shade. I'm still hopeful.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there, especially my own!

I love red beans and rice.

I don't know anything about bean sprouts, but it looks like they sprouted :)

And something has been chewing on my tomato plant leaves. Whatever it was left the peppers alone for now though.

It may get down into the 40's here Monday night.

Uh oh. I hope whatever likes your tomato leaves doesn't like your tomatoes too. Your might be growing porch snacks for the wildlife!

40's wow. I won't be seeing that for a long time.

My dog has been sleeping on watch dog duty I think. Maybe the cold weather will perk her up.

I've also been de-winterizing--packing up the down comforter, putting the heater p in the closet, etc. Looks like warm weather is here to stay!

Yea Frugalchick, I can't seem to make 100 degrees feel cooler. I think my AC is going to be on until October.
