Looking For Deals

Yesterday, after I finished all of my chores for my truck, I went to the thrift store. I was hoping to find more shirts to add to my work wardrobe. I did find one pair of jeans and one shirt but I was amazed at how expensive the Goodwill's prices are now. The jeans that I bought were $5 which is still cheap but other jeans that I tried on were between $8 and $12. The shirt that I bought was $7! I suppose it is good for the Goodwill to try to make more money from it's thrift store but those prices are close to Ross' clearance prices. And Ross' clothes are new. I'll keep donating to the Goodwill but I'd rather have new clothes.

After the thrift store I went over to Target to look at their clearance racks but their clothes were awful. At least at the thrift store there is a chance of finding a high quality item. At Target the quality is very low. The trip to target was not a total loss as their vegetable plants in little pots were only 99 cents. I picked up one little tomato to plant in the middle of my big pot garden. I don't have time to wait around to see if the tomato seeds that I planted will grow. The summer will be here soon and if I am going to get any tomatoes this year I need to hurry up.

Ditto for men's clothes at Target.

That tomato plant has all kinds of potential. 99 cents is a bargain,

That tomato plant has the potential to be a doggy snack. I caught both of the neighbor's dogs sniffing it this morning!

Maybe it isn't such a bargain then. Doggie snacks are way cheaper than 99 cents :P

Second Hand clothes beat new clothes because:
- You know that they have been washed a couple of times, so they are more or less their final color and size
- You can be sure somebody liked
them before, enough to buy them anew

There some more, but I forgot them.

Yup, it pains me that thrift prices are catching up with the clearance prices of Ross, TJM, etc. I still prefer secondhand for environmental reasons, but...ouch.

KoBold, wouldn't you know it, the pair of jeans that I bought shrunk in the dryer and now they are too small :( Back they go in the give-away bag. At least they were only a $5 mistake.

Frugalchick, I would pay bigger thrift store prices if they had more stuff in my size but lately the selection is thin. Maybe I need to drive to the thrift stores on the rich side of town.
