It's Time For Office Christmas Parties

Or Holiday parties depending on your company. All of the people in my office are Christian or were brought up celebrating Christmas so we call it a Christmas party. It isn't even a party really. It is dinner at a nice restaurant and the company pays. I don't go to nice restaurants often so it will be nice. That reminds me, I was going to dig out my mini-tree this year and put it in my office. I don't have a lot of room in my RV for a tree and I wouldn't want the cat to attack it while I am gone.

At last year's dinner I decided to eat my entire meal instead of saving half of it. I also ordered dessert (after all, it was free!) and ate that too. Then I felt sick all night. This year I am determined to pace myself, eat half of my entree and take the rest home. They sent out an email with the restaurant menu so that we can plan ahead. Most of it was seafood or veal which isn't to my liking. The last thing on the menu was filet mignon for $25. Well, I'm not paying so I guess I'll be ordering that one. I don't think I have ever ordered a $25 meal. That's a quarter of my food budget for the month! Too bad filet mignon is so small. I'm going to have to fill up on the appetizers. Would it look bad if I took a big purse full of tupperware and plastic baggies to carry off the leftovers? :) I have an idea, I need a date who doesn't eat much...then I can take his food home too!

You're a nut! (in a good way). Sounds fun, hope you have a good time.

See if you can get another filet as an appetizer :)

The place I work for gives a huge party with lots of food. It's tonight at a hotel in Boston. I am surprised they did not cancel it, considering the economy.

You have to take advantage of free food when you can. A Christmas dinner sounds a lot better than a Christmas party.

I love Christmas Work Parties. Ours is this friday. We have lunch for everyone (about 200) and dancing until 4pm, Then to the pub, to another pub in the city and on to clubbing! I just manage the first pub but some of the younger ones party for the full 12 hours!
A few plastic freezer backs might be less conspicuous than plastic boxes but other wise I saw go for it.

Over The Cubicle Wall, thank you for that affirmation :)

I told my boss that I was going to bring a blow-up doll as my date, that way he wouldn't eat and I could take his food home too :P

Sorry to hear it Sharon Rose. Being sick is horrible. Missing out on a party too is doubly bad!

Wow, Rhea, sounds great. Perhaps they had already paid for everything in advance. Or maybe they want to keep up morale.

Tight Fisted Miser, yes, it is a very tame dinner. I like to keep some mystery between me and my coworkers. Don't really want to see them on their worst behavior.

My goodness Lizzie! Who pays for all of the clubbing? I can't imagine financing a 12 hour affair.

Only the initial meal is free, the drinks are always paid for ourselves. I guess the clubbing is too but I am always home in bed before that!
