Picking Shed Locations And Electricians

Today I spent a lot of time staring at dirt and then staring at the view from that dirt. There are 2 places that would be good for my shed.

The first is only 6 feet away from the mobile home, behind my RV. Good points: The shed could easily be hooked to the septic and electric after the RV is moved.

Bad points: This is the view after the RV goes away...just trees. I could cut them down but then I would see more of the neighbor's mobile home.

Also, this location is only 6 feet away from the mobile home which would be problematic if I ended up renting out the mobile home.

Next location. Good points: It is about 30 feet away from the mobile home and has a nice view.
This is the spot:

Bad points: Hooking up to the utilities could be a problem and definitely would be more expensive.
And this is the view:
I like this spot though. I think this is the one I will pick. All I need is a camping toilet and candles right? Who needs those modern conveniences like TV and microwaves anyway?

In other news, I finally got an electrician to come out. I showed him everything I wanted to do. He said I did have enough power available if I disconnected the jacuzzi and left the dryer in the garage. He said he would give me a quote later but when I mentioned that my budget was $10,000 he said,"for the electric or for the whole project?" Which made me think the electric part is going to be $10,000 or more.

I'm not ready for the next expensive part of this project anyway. After I get my shed it will take me a couple of months to clean out the mobile home and remove the paneling and ceiling. That is good because I am out of money.

I also called a neighbor recommended guy who grades roads. He came out and said he would give me a quote on Monday. He said I could probably afford to have him fix the holes but in order to do it right and bring in dirt to really fix the problems I would have to get my neighbors to contribute money. I think only one neighbor would contribute so that's out of the question for now. He had another guy with him who does electrical work and he offered to give me another estimate for my mobile home. The more the merrier. Estimates are free.

What about the piece of land you own? Have you figured out what it would cost to hook that up to utilities?

Hello sallie's niece, this is the little piece of desert I own. All 4.5 acres of it. The utilites are at the mobile home and I have used a big extension cord and flexible sewer hose to connect the RV. Connecting the shed if it is 30 feet away is going to be more expensive but I don't really want to be that close to the mobile home. I need more space. Converting the shed in to living space is a project for the far off future so maybe I'll be able to afford solar power by then.

Daizyville..haha. Actually that's a good idea if I can make it generate money for me.

My mother is getting bored with my shed posts. Can I help it if I have a boring life? I still have to get the shed, camp in the shed, paint the shed, move my stuff in to the shed...etc...This could go on for months! :)
