Considered A Job Offer Today

Someone I used to work with mentioned that they might be hiring another person for a job that I used to do. He wanted to know if I would be interested if the job materialized. At first I thought maybe. I would make at least $5 an hour more and get 3 day weekends. I used to LOVE 3 day weekends, although sometimes I didn't have anything to do and it could get boring. I almost want to say yes just for the 3 day weekends.

$5/hour more would come out to about $685/month after taxes. I thought about the added expense of moving again. I would have to move my RV 3 hours away which cost me $350 2 years ago. I'm sure it would cost more now. Then I would have to pay for RV space rental. That would be about $200/month. The climate is hotter too so higher electric bills. Then there is the gas and car maintenance if I want to make the trip back here to visit my property or manage my rental house. I have some friends here and I have some nice neighbors. I might be tempted to spend my 3 day weekends shopping to entertain myself if I am alone out there.

In the end, I don't think the added money could compensate for the little life I have made for myself here. I like having all of my stuff in one place (even if it is not in the same building). I like being able to grow things in my little garden. I tried planting things when I lived at that other place but the heat killed almost everything in the summer (except the palm tree). My have settled in to my job. I am near my rental house and can keep an eye on things. I love seeing the view from my property every day when I come home. I haven't had a sense of "home" since I was in high school. And I have my retirement plan that could only take a few more years if I keep at it. Then, when I retire and get a part time or seasonal job, I will have all of the 3 and 4 day weekends I can handle.
