Saturday Chores And A Little Retail Therapy

Today started off well. I got up at 8, watched some cartoons (3-2-1 Penguins), ate breakfast and then headed off to conquer my chore list. First stop...Emissions testing for my truck. It went well, the line was short and the truck passed. $12.25 and I was on my way.

Next errand...Home Depot to buy a water pump. I had previously looked them up online so I knew how much it should cost if it was actually in stock. I saw one for $62 on the display but couldn't locate where it was on the shelf. The next size pump cost $78 but I didn't want to spend the money if I didn't have to. I have the worst time finding help at Home Depot but I was lucky because there was a help button right next to the shelf (I think it was for pipe cutting but I pushed it anyway). Soon someone came over but to my dismay he just turned off the flashing help button and told me someone else from Plumbing would help me. The plumbing guy got stopped by someone else at the end of the aisle and then some other employees decided to block off the whole aisle so they could get something off the top shelf. I got tired of waiting so I just left the store. Home Depot used to be my favorite store. Now it's only good if I know exactly what I want and it's in stock.

On my way to Ace Hardware I passed a local plumbing shop. They were very helpful but unfortunately their $65 pump was out of stock and the next size pump cost $100. I was getting more frustrated and I happened to be in the vicinity of Ross so I stopped in thinking a pair of pants would make me feel better. New clothes are definitely not in my budget but I had a weak moment. I did find a pair of green pants for $10.80 (I just hope they don't shrink!). Then I passed Big Lots and bought a few items I needed and a few food items I didn't, like Cheetos.

Next stop, Ace Hardware. I had to ask someone where the pumps were but I found a nice little pump for $65. If I had known that I could have saved myself a lot of gas since Ace is much closer to my house than Home Depot. I had tried to look up pumps on Ace's website but the site wasn't working at the time.

Then I dropped my taxes in the mail and went to Safeway where I spent $57. I bought the first of many summer watermelons. I hope it's a good one.

So, I got many things accomplished, spent a little bit more money than I needed to but overall it was a good day.

Hey, if you've gotta do retail therapy, $10 pants are the way to go:)

Yes! And I almost missed them. They were in the petite clearance section. I am not petite, I am 5'8" and a size 10 but size 12 petitie fit perfect. I just have to look at the "petite" on the label and not the "size 12"!
