Thrift Store Shopping To Suppress The New Clothes Urge

The other day I dug out my bag of summer clothes. I had high hopes of wearing some old favorites since I am very tired of my winter wardrobe. Unfortunately, I only found 3 or 4 things that I would want to wear again. The rest were borderline fashion no-no's, ok once or twice but not something I want to wear again this year. That means I need more clothes to pull together outfits I look forward to wearing.

I haven't been to a real clothes store in many months (I'm talking about Target and Ross, not anything extravagant) so I really wanted to go there first. I was good though, I went to the thrift store first. I was looking for shirts mainly. Anything that I could wear to work or just casually since we can wear jeans on Fridays. I don't have much luck with pants at the thrift store. They were having a dollar sale again so I bought anything that looked good.

I left with 12 items for $12. I don't try them on in the store because the dressing room is icky, just a flimsy curtain for privacy right next to the cash register. I don't think so. When I got home 10 of them fit well and 2 went back in to my re-giving bag. Not a big loss, I consider that $2 a donation.

So, now I have some basic shirts, mostly casual that can be worn separately or layered and when I have some budget money leftover for clothes (maybe next month) I can buy a few items to tie them all together. Added bonus, I feel like I went shopping and I have some new clothes so the shopping urge has been quieted for now.

I haven't tried Savers yet. I have allowed myself to spend a little of my donation fund at non-profit thrift stores but I think Savers would fall in to the catagory of regular stores. But you are right, I could probably find more clothes for the dollar at Savers than Ross.
